Concept Note:
Through the course of our class, we have ventured into
multiple topics ranging from our memories, how we choose to edit them and
create our own narratives to cyborgs and how the world could turn into a
technologically dominant place.
A memory that’s scarring to the citizens of India, Pakistan
and to an extent, Bangladesh, is the time of partition. I chose the topic to
question whether if we really needed to do it and that if it was our only
option. The havoc it created at the time was something no one was looking
forward to. Was it really that hard for Jawaharlal Nehru and Mohammad Ali
Jinnah to form a coalition government?
The video, made on the software Blippar for augmented
reality, takes us through our history again highlighting events that took place
during and after the partition and how we are still suffering from it’s after
effects, indirectly. The second half of the video illustrates how it might be
right now had the partition not taken place. How would our memories have been
in this case? Would they have been more pleasant and not as disturbing?
